What – me a REALTOR®?
I had no idea that I needed to spend decades preparing myself to be a service oriented, top
producing realtor, whose mission it is to get quality results for my clients, namely the purchase or
sale of a residential property in the Pioneer Valley. I began my career as a Ph.D. academic. I was lured
to the Valley from the University of Washington via the University of Regensburg to become an Asst.
Professor of German at U MASS. I loved publishing and teaching, and I fell in love with Wilfried Malsch, also
a professor in the same department. We married, and we had two children whom we raised here in Amherst.
Raising children taught me the most, and the family remains the center of my life. I gave up my tenure track
position, but I also continued my studies and teaching. I acquired both a 2nd B.A. and M.A. from UMASS in
Spanish, and I taught both languages for a short time at Deerfield Academy.
In 1994 I made another life-altering decision to embark on the career of being a real estate agent, and
for decades I have thrived in this role. Also, for ten years now, I have been one of four Partners of the high
performing Five College Realtors. Initially to gain ‘street creds,’ I started working with a group of able
contractors in our Immanuel Lutheran Church to refurbish our parsonage. Throughout the years I have sold
properties in every price range, from 100k to $1,500,000. Buyers seek me out because I lead them every
step of the way through the process of purchasing a home, from financing to closing. Sellers seek me out to
list their homes because of my stellar track record in sales over decades along with my marketing and
promotional skills that include a professional photographer’s classy photos, drone shots, floor plans and
videos. Referrals are, after all, the life blood of my business.
Also, since I live in a townhouse, I decided to become a specialist in selling condos in the Five College
Area. Every year I send out mailings to each person in a condo association in Amherst with a synopsis of
the sold/active/expired listings in their complex. This way I provide sellers and buyers with valuable, local
market insights into selling or purchasing a condo in this area. In addition, I am a former Director of the Echo
Hill South Association, the first Planned Urban Development, commonly known as cluster housing, in the
state of Massachusetts.
My education and experience come together in my role as REALTOR ®, both Listing and Sale Agent, to better
serve you my client. I continue to hone my professional skills with the acquisition of specialized certifications:
